On March 9, 1997, Biggie Smalls, also known as The Notorious B.I.G, was killed in a drive-by shooting that ended a golden era in hip-hop and music. While leaving an afterparty in Los Angeles, an unknown gunman shot Biggie four times. No one has been charged with the murder since the shooter fled the scene. In his debut album, Ready to Die, Biggie – real name Christopher George Latore Wallace – established himself as a formidable force in the hip-hop world. In addition to Juicy and Big Poppa, the six-time platinum record was nominated for a Grammy. The lyrics of one track on Ready To Die have always been questionable, but fans are only now becoming aware of them.

Ready To Die featured the promotional single Just Playing (Dreams). The song samples James Brown’s 1971 song Blues And Pants. Twenty female R&B singers are mentioned in the song, and his sexual fantasies about them are discussed as well. In the second verse, the track moves onto Raven-Symone, a former Disney star. As described by Biggie, the singer suggests dating the actress – real name Raven-Symone Christina Pearman-Maday – and sleeping with her without her consent. What makes it unsettling?
