While Biggie Smalls is praised as a rap icon, one of his songs from 1994 talked about dating Raven-Symone at the time, who was only eight years old has resurfaced. On March 9, 1997, Biggie Smalls, also known as The Notorious B.I.G, was killed in a drive-by shooting that ended a golden era in hip-hop and music. While leaving an afterparty in Los Angeles, an unknown gunman shot Biggie four times. No one has been charged with the murder since the shooter fled the scene. In his debut album, Ready to Die, Biggie – real name Christopher George Latore Wallace – established himself as a formidable force in the hip-hop world. In addition to Juicy and Big Poppa, the six-time platinum record was nominated for a Grammy. The lyrics of one track on Ready To Die have always been questionable, but fans are only now becoming aware of them.

Ready To Die featured the promotional single Just Playing (Dreams). The song samples James Brown’s 1971 song Blues And Pants. Twenty female R&B singers are mentioned in the song, and his sexual fantasies about them are discussed as well. In the second verse, the track moves onto Raven-Symone, a former Disney star. As described by Biggie, the singer suggests dating the actress – real name Raven-Symone Christina Pearman-Maday – and sleeping with her without her consent. What makes it unsettling? There’s more to it than just a lack of consent. Considering that the actress was born in December 1985, she would have been eight years old when Just Playing dropped in September 1994. Meanwhile, Biggie was 21 years old.

Former Disney Star Raven-Symone Reacts To Biggie Smalls’s Single ‘Just Playing’ About Dating Her When She Was A Minor

Although Biggie Smalls is acclaimed as a rap icon, one of his 1994 songs talked about dating Raven-Symone, who was just eight years old at the time. During a drive-by shooting on March 9, 1997, Biggie Smalls, also known as The Notorious B.I.G, was killed, losing a major figure in hip-hop history. An unidentified gunman shot Biggie at a red traffic light while he was leaving a Los Angeles afterparty. To this day, no one has been charged with murdering the victim after the shooter fled the scene. However, the lyrics of one track on Ready To Die have always been questionable, but fans are only just catching on now. There are 20 female R&B singers that the singer mentions in his song and about which he has sexual fantasies. Known as the Godmother of Soul, Just Playing begins by taking shots at Patti LaBelle. Other singers include TLC, Tina Turner, and Mary J. Blige, his close friend and collaborator. In the second verse, the song moves to former Disney star Raven-Symone. The rapper suggests dating the actress and then sleeping with her without her permission. Why does it seem unsettling? The lack of consent isn’t the only reason for this. At the time of the release of Just Playing, the actress would’ve been eight years old, since she was born in December 1985.

As for Biggie, he was 21 years old. There have been divided opinions about the song: Complex ranked it number two on their list of 50 funniest rap songs in 2018 by taking a comedic approach to it, which was synonymous with Biggie. He had a great sense of humour and a great personality, according to Charli Baltimore, his last partner. “Lighthearted pokes at all the R&B queens he wanted to prank, and it’s all good fun at the end,” Complex wrote of the song. In contrast, Twitter users are calling out the late rapper for the lyrics, regardless of the fact that he was just playing around. It was shocking to this fan that it was allowed in the 90s: Isn’t that Biggie Raven Symone line just how the world looked back then? Fr? So Biggie was 21 when he was referring to Raven Symone, who was 8? It’s nasty! A second person agreed. The questionable lyrics reemerged after Raven herself just acknowledged she was referenced in January 2023. She left a shocked comment on a TikTok fan video, composing: I never knew this!!! OMG!! alongside an embarrassed face emoticon.
