Here is everything you need to know.

Rapman’s Supacell is all set to release in 2023

British rapper Rapman appears to have come a way since the web series that prompted his global acclaim. Moreover, he recently announced the trailer for his upcoming Netflix superhero series, Supacell.

If you didn’t know, Rapman’s viral web series Shiro’s Story helped him to catch the eye of Roc Nation and earned him his initial success.

In addition, he went on to make his directorial debut with 2019’s musical crime drama Blue Story after signing with the entertainment agency.

Meanwhile, the South Londoner took to his official social media to post the trailer for the series over the weekend.

He outlined the post with a caption that read, ‘Do not forget the name SUPACELL.’

Meanwhile, the show will center around a group of Black Londoners who develop superpowers.

The rapper teased in the video saying, ‘We’re going global baby 190 countries. Get ready, Supacell to the world.’

He also admitted that although the show will be filled with special effects it will show, ‘the deeper meaning of the show and the deeper theme of the show is love.’

Furthermore, he revealed that all the lead protagonists have only one thing similar i.e. they are all black.

Rapman shares that ‘Supacell’ will use technology to highlight black skin

Supacell will reportedly use revolutionary technology to bring out black skin tones.

Besides that, all the black leads were filmed with an Arri 35 camera, which is seemingly the first of its kind technology to be used in the United Kingdom.

Rapman, whose real name is Andrew Onwubolu, opened up about the series during an interview with Metro at a Netflix event.

He explained, ‘It’s groundbreaking technology. Often with shows that only have one or two Black characters, they don’t look as good as it’s not the focus but this is different.’

He continued, ‘The camera launched just before we started filming, and we had to pitch to use it.’

Rapman also confessed that Netflix surpassed his expectations for the forthcoming series.

He said, ‘I thought Netflix would see the script and feel like it’s a bit too big and tell us “Let’s reign it in.”‘

However, it is important to note that the release date for Supacell is yet to be announced by Rapman. But we can expect it later this year.
