TMZ recently reported that the recent Powerball prize winner Edwin Castro was brought up in Los Angeles. Moreover, he was a prominent former Boy Scout along with being a high school athlete.
Sources reported to TMZ that Castro climbed his way to Eagle Scout while he was a scout.
In addition, he completed his high school education at Crescenta Valley High School which is located in Los Angeles Crescenta, California. He then went on to study architecture at Woodbury University in Burbank.

Subsequently, Castro bought the winning lottery ticket from Joe’s Service Center in Altadena which is not far from the high school he once attended.
Meanwhile, TMZ also learned that Castro was a football and baseball player during his time as a high school student.
Besides that, the media outlet noted that he was brought up in a ‘wholesome family’ who often visited lakes for fishing trips.
Consequently, the insiders also mentioned that Castro is a quiet guy who has a kind and compassionate heart.
Edwin Castro wins over $2 billion lottery prize
California lottery officials announced Edwin Castro as the winner of the $2.04 billion Powerball lottery drawing in November. Moreover, it marked the lottery history of the United States of America.
Meanwhile, Castro initially wanted to keep his identity private but it came to light owing to California public disclosure laws.
However, Castro still refuses to reveal either his age, address, and occupation. Moreover, the California public school system received $153.6 million in charity from the Powerball jackpot.
Castro mentioned in a statement, ‘As someone who received the rewards of being educated in the California public education system. t’s gratifying to hear that as a result of my win, the California school system greatly benefits as well.
Meanwhile, the winners of the Powerball are given two options for receiving the winning money. The first one is to take over 30 annual payments. While the other is to receive it in a lump sum amount.
Castro on the other hand chose the second option. According to a statement made by the Lottery officials in a press conference in Sacramento, Castro has received $997.6 million.
