Bethan Guy, a 29-year-old OnlyFans model from Swindon, Wiltshire, narrowly escaped a prison sentence after blackmailing a married subscriber. Guy demanded hundreds of pounds from the man, threatening to reveal his subscription to her explicit content to his wife unless he complied with her demands.
The victim, who was granted anonymity during court proceedings, initially paid Guy £450 in an attempt to keep his activities secret. However, the threats didn’t stop. Guy continued to harass the man for more money, causing him significant emotional distress. Fearing the loss of his family, the victim contacted the police when the demands escalated, feeling trapped and helpless by her ongoing threats.
In December 2023, Guy was arrested and charged with blackmail, a serious offense that could carry a prison sentence of up to 14 years. She pleaded guilty to the charges, but her sentencing was deferred until August 2024 by Swindon Crown Court. Judge Jason Taylor imposed conditions on Guy during the deferral period, requiring her to maintain employment and avoid further offenses.
During this time, Guy continued promoting her OnlyFans account on social media, posting nude photos and explicit videos. Due to delays in the legal process, her sentencing didn’t take place until October 15, 2024. Despite the severity of the charges, Judge Taylor handed down a two-year suspended prison sentence, sparing Guy from immediate incarceration.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Guy was ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid community work. She was also mandated to attend 12 mental health treatment sessions and 15 rehabilitation activity days under the supervision of the probation service. Furthermore, she was required to pay £450 in compensation to the victim, with monthly instalments of £50.
The court heard how the victim had met Guy through Snapchat in 2022, where their interactions eventually led to her blackmailing him. The victim, in his testimony, described feeling trapped by her relentless demands. “I didn’t have enough money for my rent and bills, which was a huge strain. I had no choice but to pay, as her threats were clear, and I feared the devastating effect on my life if I didn’t,” he told the court.
When Guy’s demands for more money continued, the victim decided to report her to the police, fearing he could no longer meet her financial demands. Wiltshire Police Detective Constable Emma Rossiter, who handled the case, emphasized the importance of reporting crimes like blackmail, acknowledging how difficult it can be for victims to come forward. “We understand it can be difficult to come forward, but we are here to listen and help,” she said.
Guy’s case has drawn attention to the darker side of subscription-based platforms like OnlyFans, where personal relationships can sometimes lead to manipulation and criminal activity. Though she avoided jail time, Guy’s case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of blackmail, even in the digital age.
