Olivia Wilde recently sat down with Variety magazine. During the interview, the director addressed all the ongoing rumors about her upcoming film, Don’t Worry Darling.

Most recently, speculations came forward suggesting that there might be animosity between Wilde and Don’t Worry Darling’s actress Florence Pugh.

According to reports, Pugh is not happy with Wilde’s relations with Harry Styles who also stars as a lead character in the film.

However, Wilde took the platform to clarify and shared, ‘We were all brought so close by the bubble of the production.’

She added, ‘S he was really a great supporter of his as someone who was newer to a film set. And he was such a great supporter of hers, as someone who understood it was her film.’

The House alum further mentioned that she wanted Pugh to star in her upcoming second directorial film.

Wilde was supposedly impressed by Pugh’s performance in the 2019 horror film, Midsommar.

The 38-year-old actress shared, ‘I had been blown the f**k away by her.’

She noted, ‘I loved the film, but I loved her. I was just like, “Well, she’s extraordinary. She’s clearly the most exciting young actress working today.”‘

Rumors started surfacing when a TikTok user noted in a video that Florence Pugh is not promoting, ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ on her social media handles like her co-stars.

Moreover, Pugh did not post about the film even when the second trailer was released on the 21st of July. However, she did upload details of her upcoming project with Christopher Nolan for the movie, Oppenheimer.

Furthermore, in an article, it was said that Harry Styles was supposedly paid three times the salary of the Lady Macbeth actress in the film.

Wilde stated during the interview, ‘There has been a lot out there that I largely don’t pay attention to. But the absurdity of invented clickbait and subsequent reaction regarding a nonexistent pay disparity between our lead and supporting actors really upset me.’

She then went on to say, ‘I’m a woman who has been in this business for over 20 years, and it’s something that I have fought for myself and others, especially being a director. There is absolutely no validity to those claims.’
