Noel Gallagher Spills the Beans: The Surprising Origin of His Beef with Adele Revealed
4 min readNoel Gallagher is well-known for not holding back when it comes to voicing his disdain for certain celebrities. He felt compelled to provide additional context for previous comments he had made about Adele in a recent podcast appearance, having labelled the artist “f***ing awful” and her songs “offensive” back in July. Gallagher revealed on the Matt Morgan podcast that his disagreement with Adele sprang from an invitation she gave him to see her and that he reportedly took problem with the fact that she used a proxy to transmit it. On the program, he explained that she dispatched someone to ask him, “Did I want to meet her?” What enraged him was that she asked, “Did I want to meet her?” “I’m not one to make a scene; I just stash it in the vault & believe that revenge is best served cold.”

“She sent someone over to f***ing ask, ‘Did I want to meet her?’. That’s what riled me. I’m not one for causing a scene, I just stick it in the vault and just think revenge is a dish best served… pic.twitter.com/Af6EtyEI0t
Regardless of his personal views towards Adele, Gallagher joked that he was open to working with her in the future: “If I fall out of love with touring, I might find myself just sitting at home composing songs & sending them to my publishers.” ‘Get Adele to sing that,’ I’ll say. “Don’t call until she’s finished with the guide vocal,” he advised. The famously crotchety former Oasis frontman & High Flying Birds singer initially made news in July when he made derogatory remarks about Adele on Morgan’s podcast, comparing her to 1960s chanteuse and TV personality Cilla Black. Gallagher had previously openly criticised Adele, claiming in a 2015 interview that he didn’t enjoy her music and believed it was “for grannies.”

Noel Gallagher Explains Why He Started Beef With Adele
Noel Gallagher is well-known for not holding back when it comes to voicing his disdain for certain celebrities. Back in July, the former Oasis guitarist and vocalist explained why he called the singer “f—ing awful” and her songs “offensive.” Gallagher stated on a recent edition of Matt Morgan’s Patreon show that his dislike for Adele stemmed from a simple invitation – one that came not from Adele herself. “She sent somebody over to f—ing ask, ‘Did I want to meet with her?'” Gallagher explained. “That’s what got to me. I’m not one to make a spectacle; I merely stash it in the vault and believe that revenge is best served cold.” Later, he quipped about being open to working with the Grammy winner. “I might imagine myself spending time at home writing songs and sending them to my publishers if I tire of touring,” Gallagher said. Maybe in the future.” I’ll tell Adele to sing that. ‘Don’t call till she’s finished with the guide vocal.'” Gallagher previously referred to Adele’s music as “f—ing shit” and compared her to Cilla Black.
He originally stated his disdain for Adele’s music in 2015, when he declared it was for “f—ing grannies.” “If somebody wants to find out what I think of Adele, I’ll f—ing tell them,” he stated at the time. Not because I have any kind of agenda or since I’m attempting to incite frenzy. “I’m not sure what all the fuss is about.”Gallagher, who has feuded with Miley Cyrus, Lewis Capaldi, and Matt Healy of the 1975, said Morgan, “I don’t believe I have ever gone out of my way to initiate anything.” It’s consistently a reaction to some fucking moron starting it all. You know how I keep to myself.” In 2021, he notoriously slammed UK girl group Little Mix, claiming they were “not in the same league as Oasis” after becoming the first women’s group to win a key Brit Award. On British television, Little Mix vocalist Jade Thirlwall responded to the criticism, stating it was a “real shame” and that “we are certainly the most successful girl group in the country, yet he’s not even the most renowned performer in his family.”
