Rapper NLE Choppa sparked confusion and curiosity among fans this week with a cryptic tweet that left many speculating about its meaning. The 21-year-old artist posted a selfie with the caption, “I’m coming out…” but provided no further context, leading to a flurry of reactions across social media. While some fans assumed he was making a personal announcement about his sexuality, others suspected it might be a promotional tactic for an upcoming release.

One fan responded, “Didn’t expect to hear this today,” while another speculated, “Is this a promotion strategy for an upcoming album? Because it’s definitely working.” As conversations continued to swirl, NLE Choppa eventually stepped in to clarify his message, confirming that the tweet was indeed a teaser for his upcoming music project. He followed up with, “With New Song (PINNED^) A New Project This Month, and Black Duck Boots,” adding, “Y’all ain’t let me finish.”

While the clarification answered fans’ questions, the vague initial post left some feeling as though the rapper had intentionally stirred up controversy. One fan called him out, saying, “You had enough characters to finish that caption—you knew what you were doing,” while another expressed frustration, writing, “Don’t piss me off.” Despite the mixed reactions, others defended Choppa, pointing out that the rapper has shown support for the LGBTQ+ community in the past and was likely not trying to mislead anyone.

In fact, NLE Choppa has been vocal about his appreciation for his LGBTQ+ fans. During a previous interview, the rapper discussed the struggles many people face when seeking acceptance, whether for their race, weight, or sexuality. “I ain’t gon’ lie, man, every day we wake up and we fight acceptance,” he said. He added that he aims to create a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone who enjoys his music, stating, “I was raised to fck with who fck with you. So thank y’all for appreciating my craft. My music is for ALL, we do NO Discrimination.”

NLE Choppa also addressed rumors and misconceptions surrounding his sexuality, which have occasionally surfaced throughout his career. In a series of tweets, he explained, “I understand me being in love with myself as a BLACKMAN [sic] is so RARE to the point that some people try putting the homosexual jacket on my name.” However, he made it clear that while he has love for all people, his romantic interests lie exclusively with women.

Earlier this month, NLE Choppa demonstrated his commitment to inclusivity by performing at a Black Pride event in Atlanta. During his performance, he took a moment to address the criticism he’s faced for showing support to the LGBTQ+ community. “I know who I am deeply and I appreciate who I am. I will be doing my justice by coming to Atlanta for Black Pride, showing love to the LGBTQ community, which has been one of the best audiences streaming ‘Sl*t Me Out 2,’” he said. “Just as they pour love into me, I am giving that love back.”
