Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent reported prank has gotten a lot of backlash on the internet. During the Red Table Talk, Niki Ball disclosed that her 12-year-old daughter, who had alopecia, had committed suicide after being ridiculed because of her hair loss.

Niki Ball was invited to share her painful experience on a new edition of her Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, which airs on Wednesday. The 50-year-old has spoken out about her personal difficulties with alopecia.

Mother recalls her late daughter, who was bullied because of her alopecia

Rio Ball began losing her hair ‘by the handful’ early in the pandemic and was later diagnosed with alopecia areata, an autoimmune illness that causes patchy and erratic hair loss.

‘She was very resilient despite her hair loss. In a clip from the episode, Ball explains, “She just rocked it even when it was still falling out, and she just had these big bald patches.” ‘I experimented with the creams. They forced her to flee. I put the shots to the test. She took five of them in one day, but none of them were particularly useful.’

Ball revealed how Rio decided to shave her head during the emotional meeting with Pinkett Smith, who was joined by her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and her daughter, Willow Smith.

‘With school approaching, we purchased her that extremely gorgeous wig, and she adored it, and she shined,’ the mother explained. ‘However, within a few weeks at school, she was like, “I don’t want to put it on any longer. It’s pointless.”

Rio’s classmates referred to her as a ‘naked mole rat,’ a ‘bug-eyed alien,’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Clean,’ according to Ball. Rio had a “very bad day” at school, she said, weeks before her death.

Rio took his own life on March 14, 2022.

She said that she exclaimed, “Rio!” when she couldn’t see Rio. ‘I couldn’t hear anything, so I yelled once again,’ she explained.

‘I went all the way into her room, and she had hung herself from her loft bed with a pair of trousers,’ the mother revealed as she sobbed.

Rio’s is an example of why people “need an awareness surrounding the horror of this sickness,” Pinkett Smith said, crying alongside Ball.

Trolls on the internet Red Table Talks & Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia

Jada’s battle with alopecia has sparked a slew of headlines, starting with Chris Rock mocking her at the 2022 Academy Awards. The Internet was quick to troll her and call her out once more, while some people continue to defend her. One Twitter user stated that she “searched the world high and low until she found someone who would tell a story that made the Smiths look like they are right about everything.” Another person went too far and made a comparison between her and Amber Heard, adding, “The issue for Jada is that 90% of the population will see right through this nonsense.” The remaining 10% are individuals who acknowledge to supporting Amber Turd.”

One poster advised Jada to “grow up,” saying, “Jada has to stop crying like a baby and grow up. Almost everyone has issues in their lives that are larger than hers.”

However, not everyone criticized Jada because some people were moved by the narrative because, after all, it was bullying that claimed her life, and several admirers rushed to her aid. “Thank you dear Jada for another beautiful, compassionate episode,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Beautiful, courageous mother!” commented another user, wishing the bereaved mother well.
