Neil Young and Crazy Horse have made the difficult decision to suspend their ‘Love Earth Tour’ due to health issues. Originally scheduled to continue on July 8 in Toronto and run through September, the tour is now on hold indefinitely.

The tour, which began on April 24 in San Diego, California, encountered its first set of challenges a month later. Concerts in Chicago, Austin, and Dallas were postponed due to illness, as announced on Young’s official website at the time. This pattern of disruption resurfaced on June 26, leading to the current suspension.

“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far,” reads a statement on Young’s website. “GREAT AUDIENCES AND MUSIC. WE HAVE HAD A BLAST! When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.”

The statement continues, “We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is #1. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you….and for us. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse….. Neil, Micah, Ralph, and Billy. Love Earth.”

The show at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan, on May 22 marked the last performance before the health issues arose. The canceled dates include shows in Bend, Oregon (July 25), George, Washington (July 26), and West Valley City, Utah (July 29), as listed by Ticketmaster. Their participation in the Ohana Festival (September 27-28) and the Hollywood Bowl performance (September 29) has not been officially canceled as of now.

This tour marked Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s first in over a decade, making the postponement particularly disheartening for both the band and their fans. Despite the setbacks, the band remains optimistic about rescheduling missed dates once they are back to full health.

“We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again!” the statement reiterates. “We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience.”

In addition to the postponed dates, Southern California’s Ohana Festival confirmed on social media that Neil Young and Crazy Horse will no longer be headlining. The Bourbon & Beyond Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, also announced that it is seeking a new headliner following the band’s withdrawal.

The ‘Love Earth Tour’ initially promised 16 shows, kicking off on April 25 in San Diego. Despite the unforeseen break, Young and the band reflect positively on the tour’s early days. “Great audience and music. We have had a blast!” they wrote.

As fans await updates on rescheduled dates, the priority remains the health and well-being of Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Their dedication to their music and fans is evident in their heartfelt messages and plans to return to the stage when fully recovered.
