Meek Mill sparks outrage for filming a music video at Ghana’s presidential palace

Meek Mill is facing backlash for shooting a music video at the official residence of the President of Ghana.

Meek Mill is criticized for recording a video at Ghana’s Presidential Palace 

It seems like Meek Mill was enjoying a fruitful trip to Ghana in the past few days. However, it may have come to an end, as the singer is receiving criticism for filming a music video in Jubilee House.

If you didn’t know, Jubilee House is the presidential palace in Accra. Moreover, it serves as an official residence and office to the nation’s president. 

The Philly rapper took to his social media account on 8th January 2023 late Sunday to announce that he is all set to drop a new song.

Meanwhile, it turns out that certain parts of the video were recorded in and around the Jubilee House during Mill’s visit.

In the video, Mill is seen rapping at multiple locations around the residence including corridors, the conference hall as well behind the presidential lectern.

Furthermore, Elikem Kotoko, a member of the main opposition party of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) gave his view on the discussion.

He went on to question Ghana’s government’s decision to allow the singer to film the video in a Facebook post.  

In addition, he said, ‘How much did Meek Mill pay to the Ghanaian government to shoot this music video at the seat of government.’

The Ghanaian politician continued, ‘And if he didn’t pay a dime can other Ghanaian artists be allowed to do the same? Ooh, Ghana.’

Many Ghanaians have taken to social media to share their views over Meek Mill filming a video at the president’s residence. 

While some expressed their outrage over the matter, others claimed that it is not a big deal.

A user wrote, ‘The office of the president has been in disgrace since Akufo Addo became president. There’s no dignity again. Who is Meekmill to shoot a video at the jubilee house.’

Someone else noted, ‘Meek Mill says he would buy his mama a house; pointed at the Jubilee House and then went on to caption the post on his IG as “Presidential Villa.”‘
