YouTuber and magician Max Major has broken his silence regarding the controversy surrounding his performance during Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 2 subathon. A viral video from the event, which aired on November 27, 2024, depicted a shocking moment in which Cenat appeared to “hang” Major, sparking widespread criticism and concern.

Major has since clarified that the stunt was a pre-planned illusion, stating that “everything that happened was all according to plan.” However, the incident has drawn mixed reactions. Cenat, a two-time Streamer of the Year award winner, expressed dissatisfaction with Major’s actions, calling the magician “selfish.” Additionally, many online speculated that the controversial act could result in a ban for Cenat on Twitch.

Max Majorā€™s Statement

On December 11, 2024, Max Major addressed the controversy in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he defended his actions and provided context for the stunt. The magician asserted that he had not misled Cenat’s team and that the performance was not intended to endanger the streamerā€™s platform.

ā€œI did not lie to Kai’s team about the stunt I was going to perform on Mafiathon 2, and this was not an attempt to get him banned,ā€ he wrote. Major explained that the stunt involved constructing a gallows, placing a noose around his neck, being lifted into the air, and then falling onto a pile of boxes. He emphasized that both Cenatā€™s team and Twitch were aware of the stunt’s nature and had approved it, contingent on the inclusion of a disclaimer: “Professional stunt, do not attempt.”

Cenatā€™s Silence and Majorā€™s Hope to Reconnect

Despite his detailed explanation, Major acknowledged the backlash, expressing regret for the unexpected reactions and apologizing for any distress caused. He emphasized that the act required ā€œweeks of meticulous planning and trainingā€ and was never intended to harm Cenatā€™s reputation or Twitch channel.

“I understand people are reacting in ways I didn’t anticipate,” Major wrote. “This wasn’t designed to destroy Kai.” He revealed that he had reached out to Cenat but had not yet received a response. ā€œI hope weā€™re able to reconnect someday,ā€ he added.

As of now, Kai Cenat has not publicly commented on Majorā€™s statement. The stunt has ignited debates about the boundaries of live-streamed performances, with some criticizing the act as reckless and others viewing it as an innovative but poorly executed spectacle.

This incident highlights the challenges streamers face in balancing entertainment with platform guidelines and audience sensitivities. For now, the future of the collaboration between Max Major and Kai Cenat remains uncertain.
