In her career, Margot Robbie claims sole ownership of one significant claim. There would be no Barbie without her. There would be no ‘Barbie Girl’ without her. The Australian actor confirmed to Rolling Stone that the song’s reintroduction into the film soundtrack was entirely her idea. Robbie, who will play the real-life Barbie in Gerwig’s film, claimed she made a request to her filmmaker friend. “‘Greta, how are we going to integrate this song?'” Aqua, a Europop group, released the famous song in 1997. Any Barbie movie wouldn’t be complete without a mention of “Barbie Girl.”

It depicts the racy narrative of Mattel’s own Barbie and Ken and their ‘wonderful’ and ‘plastic’ antics. Despite its rather dubious premise, the song restored Barbie’s popularity among teenagers and sent the song to the top of the charts. There were more than 15 countries where it topped the charts. Gerwig assured her blonde companion that she’d ‘find a cool way to include it,’ according to the Australian A-lister. On June 22, a remix of the 1997 hit was released, featuring Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice crooning over it. Robbie explained how excited she was when she first learned about the collaboration.

Aqua’s Barbie Girl Is About To Make A Triumphant Return Thanks To Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie stated that she was determined to include a homage to Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” film. Robbie and Gerwig recently chatted with Rolling Stone about the soundtrack, which features original songs by Dua Lipa, Lizzo, and Charli XCX. “‘Greta, how are we planning to include this song?'” “We can’t make a Barbie movie without a reference to Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl.’ It’s got to be in there,” Robbie explained. She then said, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out.'” Gerwig had always planned to use the 1997 novelty song, “Barbie Girl”, in her film, according to Rolling Stone. So, as executive producer for the soundtrack, Mark Ronson enlisted Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice for a remix titled “Barbie World.” It has been requested for 15 years that Nicki rhyme over one of the Barbie Girl songs,” Ronson explained to the magazine, pointing to Minaj’s huge fanbase: “Barbz.” Robbie was excited when Gerwig mentioned the collaboration.

Margot Robbie called Lizzo’s piece, “Pink,” “so funny” and “quite genius.” “You’re hearing lyrics which are relating to what’s going on onscreen, so the music becomes more than simply just a music — it grew into a device that enhanced what the audience was witnessing and experiencing, and it got to be the voice of the audience,” Robbie continued. On Friday, July 21, the whole soundtrack will be released alongside the film. However, life in plastic wasn’t constantly perfect, as the song wasn’t even in the original script. Although Gerwig intended to use the song in her film, fans were angry when Aqua manager Ulrich Moller-Jorgensen said last year that the song would not be featured. However, thanks to Robbie’s tenacity, Gerwig and Aqua supposedly negotiated a deal to offer fans an absolute firestorm of a remix to the song they desired.
