Mads Mikkelsen recently suggested that Johnny Depp might return to the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Here is everything you need to know.

Johnny Depp to return to Fantastic Beasts series

Deadline interviewed Mads Mikkelsen where he discussed the possibilities of Johnny Depp reprising his role in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie.

Mikkelsen shared, ‘Obviously, well, now the course has changed. He won the suit (against Amber), the court (case). So let’s see if he comes back. He might.’

He added, ‘I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I could not copy it. There was no way I could just copy it because it’s so much him. It would be creative suicide. So, we had to come up with something else, something that was mine, and build a bridge between him and me.’

The 56-year-old actor continued, ‘It was intimidating. His fans were very, very sweet, but they were also very stubborn. I didn’t interact too much with them, but I could understand why they had their hearts broken.’

He further expressed his delight over how he would love to cross paths with Depp in the future.

Mikkelsen’s answer comes several months after Depp emerged victorious against his former wife Amber Heard in their defamation lawsuit.

If you didn’t know, Depp was axed from most of the Hollywood industry after Heard penned an op-ed accusing him of domestic violence. Consequently, he was fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

The 59-year-old star appeared as the famous dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spinoff series.

More about the Fantastic Beasts franchise

Mikkelsen went on to feature as Grindelwald in the third film which is titled, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The movie hit the theatre screens earlier this year.

However, Depp’s fans campaigned hard for Depp to return to his iconic roles after he won the controversial trial.

The franchise also includes Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, and Katherine Waterson.

Meanwhile, two new films have been announced in the series however the fourth part is not yet sent into production.
