Internet sensation and professional boxer Logan Paul has recently found himself at the center of controversy, after an old video featuring his dog, Broley, went viral for all the wrong reasons. The video, which was originally uploaded four years ago, sparked outrage after resurfacing on social media. In the clip, Paul and his friends are seen on a boat with Broley, who suddenly falls into the lake. Paul quickly jumps into the water to rescue the dog, but accusations have arisen suggesting this was no accident.
The controversy began on August 22, 2024, when a Reddit post on the popular r/h3h3productions subreddit accused Logan Paul of intentionally endangering his dog. The post, which claimed that Paul attempted to push Broley “into a boat propeller” for the sake of creating content, rapidly gained traction online. The original post read, “Logan Paul attempts to kill his dog by pushing it into a boat propeller for ‘content’ and tries to pretend it just jumped off.”

The post quickly garnered attention, amassing over 22.4k upvotes and sparking a heated debate in the comments, with more than 4,000 users weighing in. One Redditor, u/kal195, expressed their outrage, writing, “This infuriates me more than most things anyone could ever do. F**k you, Logan. I hope a dog pushes you off a boat into danger for no reason someday.” Others echoed similar sentiments, with user u/Always4am stating, “This is clearly animal endangerment. I hope this gets circulated widely.” Another commenter, u/vluniis, criticized Paul’s behavior in the video, stating, “And then his cringe jumping as if he’s heroically saving his dog. Such an ugly and fake personality, man.”
In response to the growing backlash, Logan Paul took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on August 23, 2024, to vehemently deny the accusations. He posted a brief message, stating, “I would never.” Alongside this tweet, Paul included a screenshot of a YouTube comment he had left four years earlier, defending himself against similar claims. The comment read: “Clarifying in the comments: we would never, ever, ever push Broley off the boat. He jumped and a hand was behind him, petting him, and when he jumped, we attempted to grab him, but for a fact, we did not push him. Watch his body language and you can very evidently see a self-induced, independent jump from the little mutt. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.”

To further dispel the allegations, Paul also shared a slow-motion video of the incident, highlighting the moments before Broley fell into the lake. The 25-second clip showed two hands reaching out to stabilize the dog, seemingly trying to prevent him from jumping into the water. The video aimed to demonstrate that the fall was accidental and not a result of any malicious intent.
While Logan Paul has denied the allegations and presented evidence in his defense, the debate on social media continues. Many remain skeptical, while others have taken his side, pointing to the video as proof of an innocent mistake. Regardless, the situation has once again thrust Paul into the spotlight, fueling ongoing discussions about the responsibilities of influencers and the boundaries of content creation.
