Lil Wayne Faces Legal Battle: Former Bodyguard Alleges Assault and Gun Threats in Lawsuit

Lil Wayne is said to be being sued for allegedly abusing and threatening a former bodyguard with a gun. According to TMZ, Lil Wayne is being sued by former security guard Carlos Christian for the incident, which reportedly took place in 2021. Christian claims he incurred medical expenditures, lost pay, and mental suffering as a result of the alleged assault. He’s suing for compensatory as well as punitive damages against the rapper. The claimed event was investigated by police in December 2021. Authorities were apparently sent to Wayne’s Hidden Hills, California, house after Christian called.

According to the bodyguard, things became heated between him and Tune, and the incident escalated into a physical altercation, with Wayne allegedly hitting him in the ear and telling him to leave. When Christian went to the toilet instead, Wayne allegedly pulled out an AR-15 weapon and threatened him, forcing the guard to flee the house and to the gated community’s guard shack, where he contacted authorities. Wayne disputed that the incident occurred. The Louisiana rapper is fresh off the release of Welcome 2 Collegrove, his new collaborative album with 2 Chainz. He’s presently working on Tha Carter VI, his highly anticipated next album.

On Friday, a former security worker for Lil Wayne lodged a complaint, accusing the Grammy-winning artist of using a semiautomatic weapon to threaten him and hitting him in the head two years ago at Lil Wayne’s residence in Hidden Hills, California. In a seven-page lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone, the plaintiff, Carlos Christian, contends that Lil Wayne, also known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., pointed the firearm directly at him as a threat and struck him in the ear with his fist while brandishing the semiautomatic rifle. According to the lawsuit, Christian felt he was going to be shot. “It substantially seemed to the plaintiff that (Lil Wayne) was getting ready to carry out the threat,” according to the paperwork filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. “Plaintiff experienced severe emotional distress, forcing him to look for mental health treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) arising immediately following this incident,” Christian claims, adding that the claimed assault and battery cost him medical bills as well as earnings and earning capacity. He is suing for both compensatory and punitive damages.

Earlier, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department informed Rolling Stone that they were investigating a “verbal altercation” involving a security guard and an adult male who reportedly “displayed a firearm” on December 1, 2021, at a residence in Hidden Hills. Although the agency did not specifically mention Lil Wayne, they issued the statement in response to an inquiry that did name the artist behind “Lollipop.” According to undisclosed law enforcement sources, Lil Wayne accused the security officer of taking pictures and sharing them with the media during the altercation. TMZ reported that individuals close to Lil Wayne disputed the incident, asserting that the rapper doesn’t own a gun. Lil Wayne, aged 41, had previously pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in New York. In December 2019, FBI agents found a gold-plated revolver during a search of his Gulfstream jet at a Miami-area airport. He pleaded guilty to that case in December 2020 and, while awaiting sentencing, received a full presidential pardon from Donald Trump.
