Eddie Mekka, the famous “Laverne and Shirley” actor has died at the age of 69 on November 27. The cause of death is still unknown.

Eddie Mekka was born on June 14, 1952, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the U.S. His real name was Edward Rudolph Mekjian. He was the son of an Italian mother and an Armenian father. His father’s name was Vaughn Mekijan and his mother’s name was Mariam. His father was a World War II veteran and his mother was a presser. Mekka was a famous American actor. In the 1970s, he used to teach young people to sing in Worcester County Light Opera, Massachusetts. He gained popularity for the role of Carmine ‘The Big Ragoo’ Ragusa for the sitcom “Laverne and Shirley” in 1976. Mekka acted on the series until 1983, afterwards the series was canceled. Throughout his career, he has starred in around 50 TV shows and movies.

In 1983, Eddie Mekka married actress DeLee Lively. They were together from1983 to 1992. Later in 1994, he got married to Yvonne Marie Grace. The couple had together one daughter named Mia. Later, he moved to Los Angeles. Mekka was nominated for Tony Award for performing on Broadway in The Lieutenant. He has graduated from Burncoat High School and later, he attended Berklee College of Music.

His recent television works are The Bold and Beautiful, 24, The Suite Life of Zack, and Cody. Eddie Mekka has also starred as Detective Murdoch in “Catch Me If You Can”, a fox television movie. In November 2008, he worked with his “Laverne and Shirley” co-star Cindy Williams in a regional production of the comedy play “It Had To Be You”. In 2010, from April 29 to June 20, Mekka starred in Fiddler on the Roof playing the role of Tevye at the John W. Engman Theater in Northport, New York.

The famous “Laverne and Shirley” actor is no more. He has died on November 27. The news has been confirmed by the star’s brother, Warren Mekjian. Mekjian said that Eddie Mekka loved to make people laugh and were a funny guy. He would be missed and everyone is proud of him for his accomplishments on TV.

The cause of death is not confirmed by anyone. According to the information, the actor was alone at home, when police found him on November 27 in Newhall, California. But yes, six months ago, Mekka went to the hospital, when diagnosed with a blood clot.

He would always be remembered and missed for his amazing work.
