KSI, popular YouTuber and influencer, recently faced significant backlash after responding to criticisms from fellow YouTuber DanTDM regarding his new Lunchly brand. Lunchly, a competitor to Lunchables, is a product KSI is working on alongside other major creators like Logan Paul and MrBeast. Despite the trio’s success with popular ventures such as PRIME and Feastables, KSI’s defense of his new product didn’t sit well with many, including his own fans.

The controversy began when DanTDM publicly voiced his concerns about the way KSI, Logan Paul, and MrBeast were using their platforms to promote Lunchly. Dan questioned the intentions behind the brand, suggesting that it was more about profit than providing any value to their fanbase. He openly criticized the trio for leveraging their fame to sell a product that he believed didn’t benefit their followers, particularly younger fans who might be more susceptible to trusting their idols.

“I can’t stay silent anymore. This is purely about selling products for the sake of making money. How does this help their fans? This is just selling crap to kids who don’t know any better,” DanTDM stated. His comments resonated with many, including fellow YouTuber JackSepticEye, who also sided with Dan on the matter.

In response, KSI took to Twitter and YouTube with a series of tweets and a 20-minute video. While he aimed to defend his stance and even tried to “turn the mirror” on DanTDM, the reception was largely negative. KSI accused critics of having a bias against him, Logan Paul, and MrBeast, suggesting they were being unfairly targeted compared to other creators who have launched similar ventures.

“I’m not seeing people going after others who promote food products on Twitter. You know why? People just hate us – they hate Logan Paul, they hate MrBeast, and they hate me on Twitter,” KSI remarked in his video.

However, KSI’s explanation didn’t resonate with everyone, even within his own community. Fans on various platforms, including Reddit and YouTube, called him out for missing the point and avoiding genuine engagement with the criticism. Many pointed out that KSI cherry-picked responses that had minimal likes and failed to acknowledge more critical comments or community notes that provided context.

One YouTube commenter summarized the discontent, writing, “Man works with the two most controversial figures on YouTube right now and responds with ‘they just hate us for no reason’.”

This comment referred to Logan Paul’s past controversies, including his legal battle with Coffeezilla over CryptoZoo, as well as recent accusations against MrBeast regarding mistreatment of staff and contestants on his set—issues MrBeast has yet to publicly address.

KSI’s video, which included reactions to memes and negative comments, didn’t help shift the conversation in his favor. Another YouTube commenter observed, “JJ slowly getting more and more triggered through the video is hilarious,” hinting at KSI’s frustration throughout the clip.

While not all of KSI’s fans are entirely against the idea of Lunchly, a noticeable portion of his longtime followers agree with DanTDM’s criticism. Many expressed disappointment that KSI seemed more focused on defending his business rather than considering the feedback from his loyal supporters.

As the debate over Lunchly continues, it’s clear that KSI’s latest business move has struck a nerve not only with fellow creators but with his own fanbase as well. Whether or not the YouTuber will adjust his approach remains to be seen, but the response thus far indicates that many believe there’s a larger issue at play than just product promotion.
