According to legal documents acquired by TMZ, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was compelled to refund the millions he reportedly overcharged the singer while scheduling gigs on her behalf. A California labor commissioner found that Blackstock, 46, “crossed the line” when he booked employment for the 41-year-old talk show presenter as her manager, a task that is strictly designated for agents and that he must pay Clarkson $2,641,374 back. Clarkson claimed in December 2020 that Blackstock behaved fraudulently as her manager. However, Blackstock denied scamming his estranged wife of millions of dollars at the time.

Blackstock received a large payment for booking Clarkson as a judge on “The Voice,” appearing in advertisements for Norwegian Cruise Line and Wayfair and hosting the Billboard Music Awards. According to the site, Blackstock got $1.98 million in fees for hiring Clarkson on “The Voice,” but only $93.30 for landing her a hosting role on the Billboard Music Awards. The “Breakaway” singer also attempted to reclaim payments earned by Blackstock for landing a deal with “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” but a judge determined that he did not have to repay the money. After almost seven years of marriage, Clarkson sought to seek a divorce from Blackstock in June 2020.

Clarkson received primary custody of their children and was allowed to maintain the ranch. The trio relocated to New York City shortly after the split was finalised, which the musician said “helped” her get back on her feet. Following the release of her cathartic album, “Chemistry,” Clarkson informed her fans that she was putting dating on hold.
