Kelly Clarkson is speaking out about how she dealt with her divorce. During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the 41-year-old singer acknowledged having some “unhealthy habits” following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce from her former husband Blackstock in June 2020. River, 9, & Remington, 7, are the children of the former couple, who divorced in March 2022. I’m not sure how individuals deal with things like that because I’m not going to say I did it nicely. It wasn’t behind closed doors by myself, she said. To be completely honest, I did not handle it well. I had a lot of meetings with simply my pals… I couldn’t even say anything.

I was crying so hard… even before we separated, Clarkson explained. As it turns out, there were quite a few now unhealthy habits that you didn’t realize before, as well as some habits that you picked up that you didn’t notice before. Clarkson and Blackstock went to marriage counselling before calling it quits in order to “make it work.” Clarkson, on the other hand, “was aware in my heart it just wouldn’t happen.” Though it wasn’t beneficial for Kelly and Brandon Blackstock as a couple, it did help Clarkson individually. While on that rollercoaster, Clarkson stated that “the worst part” of her split was the public part of it.

Kelly Clarkson Admits She Resorted To Unhealthy Habits During Her Divorce From Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson stated that she handled her divorce from now-ex Brandon Blackstock poorly. I’m not sure how people deal with things like that because I’m not going to say I did it beautifully. “It wasn’t behind closed doors by myself,” the Kelly Clarkson Show host, 41, admitted to Zane Lowe during an Apple Music 1 interview on Wednesday, June 21. To be absolutely honest, I didn’t handle the situation properly. I had a lot of sessions with just my buddies where I couldn’t even talk. Even before we parted, I was sobbing uncontrollably. There were just a lot of new unhealthy habits that you noticed or habits that you noticed that you didn’t notice previously. The benefit of hindsight is enormous. Clarkson married the 46-year-old music manager in 2013, and they have two children from their marriage. Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, according to Us Weekly, and the split was finalised two years later. During the proceedings, the “Miss Independent” singer and Blackstock sparred over marital assets, including Clarkson’s Montana home where Blackstock resided, and custody of their two minor children, River Rose, 9, and Remington, 7. As a result, Kelly Clarkson was awarded primary custody of the children, and Blackstock was allowed to visit the children once per month.

The American Idol winner also agreed to pay her ex-husband a one-time payment of $1.3 million as well as $115,00 per month in spousal support until January 2024. Clarkson has been open about learning to move on since their divorce was finalised. I’m not aware of a single instance. On Wednesday, she stated, “I believe it will be gradual.” “And that’s what everyone tells you. I’m curious because one of the first songs on this album is called ‘Skip This Part.’ Could I skip this part? Before we were separated, I literally told my therapist, “We’re trying to figure it out.” I truly want this to happen,’ but I guess I knew in my heart it wouldn’t. She explained, “It’s just sh—ty, and that’s where I am, and I don’t want to go through it.”.. Love causes you to do both wonderful and incredibly foolish things. As a result, I don’t believe there was a moment. I believe it just progressed gradually to the point where, one day, she was like, ‘You don’t have to attend every argument that you’re invited to.’ That struck a chord with me. Clarkson was also embroiled in a three-year court battle with her former father-in-law, Narvel Blackstock, who sued her for breach of contract and unpaid commissions. The Voice mentor countersued his accusations, and the case is slated to complete later this month.
