According to the latest reports, a new Formula One project is in the works with Disney plus.
As per Variety, Disney’s yet-to-be-titled show will consist of a four-part docuseries and will particularly focus on Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn.
If you didn’t know, Brawn bought the Honda team in 2009 and later renamed it Brawn GP. He led the team to two unprecedented championship victories.
Most importantly, Keanu Reeves, who is recognized for his performance in John Wick and The Matrix, will host the Formula 1 series.
Furthermore, the actor has already started conducting interviews for the series.
According to reports, former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello are some of the faces that will likely be seen in the series.
Moreover, Brawn himself is also scheduled to take part in the upcoming show.
Keanu opens up about hosting new Formula One docuseries
Keanu Reeves has been candid about his involvement with the upcoming sports project. He talked about it with a local racing journalist while attending the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, United Kingdom.
He said, ‘We want to tell that amazing remarkable story [of Brawn GP]. There is so much to talk about.’
The 57-year-old continued, ‘A friend of mine was telling me the story and I was so struck by it and he was actually working for Brawn back in the day in publicity and he’s a producer/director and so we were like, well let’s tell that story, let’s try and tell that story.’
The Speed star added, ‘It’s been really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula One that year. It wasn’t just the cars, new regulations, FOTA [the Formula One Teams Association], breakaway series.’
He mentioned, ‘I mean there was just so much happening in Formula One at that time. The world of Formula One was just extraordinary. I mean, it’s always extraordinary, but in that year with Brawn GP I think something really special happened.’
All3Media-owned North One Television will serve as the studio producer for the forthcoming docuseries.
Meanwhile, Disney is yet to confirm the release date of the series. However, it is expected to drop on the streaming portal in Fall 2023.
