Popular YouTuber and streamer Kai Cenat has responded to critics who found his attendance at North West’s 11th birthday celebration “weird.”

North West, the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, turned 11 on June 15. She celebrated in New York City with her mother and marked the occasion with a special commemorative t-shirt. Joining the festivities was Kai Cenat, who later shared a photo on his Instagram story of himself and North to the soundtrack of one of Kanye’s songs.

Despite the innocent nature of his appearance, some people criticized Kai for attending the event, calling it “weird” for a grown man to be spending time with an 11-year-old. Comparisons were made to other celebrities like Drake and Diddy, suggesting inappropriate behavior.

In the face of this backlash, many defended Kai, highlighting his reputation as a “kid-friendly streamer.” Kai himself addressed the controversy, explaining that he had been invited to the party because he was North’s favorite streamer.

“To everybody who literally made yesterday weird, you’re being so weird, bro,” Kai said in a response video, turning the criticism back on his detractors. “Here’s the thing… I am North’s favorite streamer, okay? So yesterday, all she wanted to do was meet me, bro. That was it. Literally.”

Kai went on to emphasize that the negative reactions were the “weirdest thing” about the situation. He expressed frustration over the accusations, pointing out that many parents and children are fans of his and would love the opportunity to meet him. “I have a whole bunch of parents whose daughters and sons would love to meet me, bro. And if I could, I would just meet everybody,” he said.

Despite the negative comments, Kai assured his followers that he and North had a wonderful time together and teased an “epic” vlog documenting the day’s events. He remained unfazed by the criticism, focusing instead on the positive experience.

Supporters on social media rallied behind Kai. One user on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, “Kids always [want to] meet [their] favorite celebrities,” agreeing with Kai’s perspective. Another user pointed out that “Kim reached out and paid him to attend her daughter’s birthday party,” while a third expressed frustration that Kai had to defend himself at all, calling it “f***ed” that he even had to address the situation.

Kai Cenat’s attendance at North West’s birthday party has sparked a debate about celebrity interactions with younger fans. However, his response highlights the importance of understanding the context and intentions behind such meetings, especially when they are meant to bring joy to young fans.
