JoJo Siwa Responds to Having 2024’s Most Disliked Music Video by a Female Artist

The 21-year-old pop star and social media sensation recently took to TikTok to celebrate an unexpected achievement: having the most disliked music video of 2024 for a female artist.
In the TikTok posted on Thursday, JoJo Siwa, known for her vibrant and flamboyant fashion choices, appeared in a bedazzled construction vest. She energetically read out a list of 2024’s most disliked music videos by female artists, revealing some surprising statistics. According to the data, Ariana Grande’s “Yes, And?” received 290,000 dislikes, while Katy Perry’s “Woman’s World” garnered 330,000 dislikes. Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” was in second place with 350,000 dislikes.
JoJo then built up to the grand reveal with characteristic enthusiasm. “Your number one first place overall goes to ‘Karma’ by JoJo Siwa with an astonishing, record-breaking 3.1 million dislikes!” she announced with a dramatic flair.

Despite the dubious honor, JoJo maintained her optimism. “You know, I am the only person that can say I beat Taylor Swift on a list of something,” she joked, closing her laptop with a shrug. She captioned the video, “WHAT A DAY TO CELEBRATE. KARMA BROKE A RECORD. 900% MORE THAN 2ND PLACE. A WIN IS A WIN.”
JoJo Siwa’s ability to find the silver lining is commendable, especially considering the backlash her single “Karma” has faced since its release three months ago. The song, featured on her new EP “Guilty Pleasure,” has been the subject of countless memes and even a Saturday Night Live sketch. Despite the criticism, JoJo has remained vocal about her commitment to her new musical direction, which she describes as “gay pop.”

In an interview with TMZ in April, JoJo expressed her desire to bring more attention to the genre of gay pop. “I am not the inventor of gay pop, for sure not. But I do want to be a piece of making it bigger than it already is. I want to bring more attention to it,” she explained.
JoJo also spoke to E! News about her transition into her adult era and the mixed reactions it has garnered. “Things can be scary for people. New things can be very, very scary,” she said. However, she remains undeterred, bolstered by support from fellow artists like Lil Nas X and Meghan Trainor. “The way that I’m able to keep going and keep being like, ‘Wait, actually what I’m doing is right,’ is because some of the most respected people in the world have come up to me and been like, ‘What you’re doing right now is so right. It is what the world needs, and I’m learning from what you are doing right now.’”
For JoJo Siwa, the validation from these respected peers means everything. “Support from people like that means the world to me,” she added.
