Jojo Siwa’s recent TikTok has been making waves on the internet after she crowned Candace Cameron Bure as the ‘rudest celebrity’ she’s ever met.
Regardless, the Dance Moms alum recently sat down for an interview with Page Six on Tuesday.
During the interview, the 19-year-old dancer gave her side of the story about her actions.
She said, ‘You know, I had a rough experience when I was little. I was 11, and I was a big, big fan, and I wanted to take a picture with her, and it wasn’t a good time for her.’
The YouTuber then added that while the interaction was not a memorable one, it did reflect on the former Fuller House star’s character.
She continued, ‘I will say because I had a bad experience, that doesn’t mean that she is an awful human. I think it just was an inconvenient time for her, and little 11-year-old me was just so pumped up and so excited, but that doesn’t mean she’s the worst human ever. It just, you know, it was a rough experience for me.’
Candace Cameron Bure issues an apology to JoJo Siwa
Candace Cameron Bure responded to JoJo Siwa’s accusations by sharing a video on Instagram.
In the clip, the 46-year-old claimed that she was ‘shocked’ by Siwa’s accusations and ‘had no idea where it came from.’
Furthermore, Cameron Bure mentioned that she had privately reached out to the Dancing with the Stars contestant.
She added, ‘Even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter and our actions matter.’
Bure further said that Siwa recalled the incident to her during their talk.
The Full House actress said, ‘[Siwa] said “I met you at the Fuller House premiere and I was 11 years old, and we were all on the red carpet. I had come up to you and said ‘Can I have a picture with you?’ and you said to me ‘Not right now.’ And then proceeded to do what you were doing and taking pictures with other people on the red carpet.”‘
Moreover, she noted, ‘I kind of broke your 11-year-old heart. I didn’t take a picture with you. Ugh! I feel crummy. Jojo, I’m so sorry.’
