Controversial streaming star Johnny Somali is threatening legal action against YouTube legend PewDiePie following the Swede’s accusations that he and other influencers have “ruined” Japan.

In a May 2024 YouTube video, Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg criticized content creators who come to Japan and engage in disruptive behavior, singling out banned Kick streamer Johnny Somali. PewDiePie, who moved to Japan with his wife Marzia in 2022, lamented that the country has become “infested” with creators striving to be as “obnoxious as possible.”

Johnny Somali gained notoriety with his Kick streams, which featured him harassing Japanese locals and blasting music in restaurants. PewDiePie referred to Somali as a “f**king idiot” and expressed relief when Somali was fined and deported from Japan.

However, Johnny Somali is not taking these remarks lightly. He has labeled PewDiePie a hypocrite, highlighting the Swedish YouTuber’s own past controversies. Somali pointed out PewDiePie’s 2017 scandal where he uttered a racist slur on stream and made anti-Semitic jokes, suggesting that Kjellberg is in no position to criticize him.

“He ain’t my OG, the new generation we run this sht now. Buddy needs to shut the f*k up and retire,” Somali lashed out. “This hypocrite has no room to even discuss me, especially with misinformation and lies!”

Somali also criticized PewDiePie’s use of his platform, accusing him of wasting his influence by targeting Somali. “Very sad that PewDiePie has 111,000,000 subscribers. A significant percentage of the 8 billion human population of Earth, has access to unlimited funds, and his only content is reacting to and watching Johnny Somali,” he slammed.

Adding to the drama, Somali suggested that he might file a lawsuit against Kjellberg for his comments. “He called me a ‘terrorist,’ very interesting use of language that could be racially motivated. Definitely defamatory, and considered slander, and libel,” Somali remarked. “See you in court, Felix.”

As of now, it remains unclear if Somali will follow through with his legal threats.

This brewing conflict between Johnny Somali and PewDiePie highlights the ongoing tensions within the influencer community, particularly concerning the impact of disruptive behavior by content creators in foreign countries. Whether or not Somali’s lawsuit materializes, this feud has certainly captured the attention of their respective fan bases and the wider online community.
