What is the Case?
As per sources, Joe Rogan has recently gained huge attention from people over the world because of spreading misinformation on his podcast. In recent months, he had some controversial guests on his podcast show whose opinions were different from the scientific consensus. Though the topic of discussion was an important one, his show received huge controversy on the app.
Some of the singers including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell were prompted after listening to the podcast by Joe Rogan. They started boycotting Spotify for Letting him do this. They also demanded for taking back this song from Spotify. Because of the singer’s reacti on to removing their songs from the platform, people started protesting on social media. Joe Rogan did not react to this situation and was tight-lipped.
On 30th January, finally, Joe Rogan opened up about the controversy and said he is very sorry about the situation. He also claimed that he will ensure from next time that Spotify will add a disclaimer to his controversial episodes.
Official Statements by Joe Rogan
He released a statement by saying, “because of this controversy, Neil Young has removed his music from Spotify. Joni Mitchell and some other people want to as well. I am very sorry that they feel that way as most certainly I do not want that. I am a Neil Young fan and have always been a Neil Young fan.”
He added to his statement, “one of the things Spotify want to do, which I agree with, is put a disclaimer and say that these people and the opinions that they express are contrary to the consensus of experts. I think that is very important.”
He expressed his view of making some changes in his show by inviting more exports for sharing different opinions on controversial topics. He said, “I would most certainly be open to doing that. I want to talk to some people that have different opinions.”

He also accepted that Spotify podcasts are just conversations and sometimes he also had no idea what to talk about during the show until he sits down. He added, “that is why some of my ideas are not that prepared or fleshed out because I am literally having them in real-time.”
After the controversy sparked, Spotify supported him and in this context, he said, “I want to thank Spotify for being so supportive during this time. I am very sorry this is happening to them and that they are taking so much heat from it.”

Spotify has confirmed the news and released a statement, “it’s clear that we have an obligation to do more to provide balance and access to widely-accepted information from the medical and scientific communities guiding us through this unprecedented time. These issues are incredibly complex. We have heard you.”
