Jeremy Renner was removing snow from a private road near his Mt. Rose-Ski home in Nevada on New Year’s Day when he was crushed beneath a Kässbohrer PistenBully snowplow weighing 14,330 pounds. According to Washoe Sheriff Darin Balaam, he was crushed underneath. As Renner was retrieving the snowplow, a family member was driving a car that had gotten stuck in the snow the evening before. The two-time Oscar nominee was exiting the plow after successfully getting his car unstuck when he noticed the heavy machinery began rolling on its own. Trying to stop the plow, he jumped behind the seat but was instead run over by the huge plow. According to Balaam, at this point in the investigation, we do not believe Renner was impaired at all and that the accident was a tragic one. In the meantime, neighbours provided Renner with towels to stop the bleeding while he awaited the arrival of emergency personnel.
