As the influencer recently discussed non-binary pronouns on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, Jeffree Star has returned to the limelight. According to Star, pronoun culture has developed from people who are bored, especially during pandemics. In his words, you are not ‘they’ and ‘them,’ you are transgender, male, or female. In addition, he told podcast host Taylor Lewan that using they/them pronouns is just an extra waste of time, saying: People get so mad when I say that. How are you they? What does that even mean? It’s stupid, that’s all I can say. It needs to be told by someone like me. If you say it, it makes you homophonic, you hate gays, you hate trans people. No one hates you. It just seems stupid to you.

Jeffree Star’s comments, however, did not sit well with netizens, as many took to social media to slam him. One netizen tweeted: Sis, you identified as alien at one point, I wonder if they/them are that hard to find. Despite this, Jeffree Star denied being sarcastic when he made the “alien” comment. The backlash against Star intensified as a result of the response. According to one user, by making that alien palette and saying “I am an alien”, you made that your image and shared a story about your grandpa, you were “being sarcastic”?? Surely you didn’t mean that, and now you’re invalidating everyone who felt the same way as you?

The ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’ podcast host Jeffree Star has found himself in hot water after recently making remarks about people using they/them pronouns. In a joke, the influencer joked about people making up pronouns during the pandemic because they were bored. You aren’t them or they. You’re transgender – either you’re male or female. Hogwarts Legacy has been surrounded by controversy since its release, sparked by Star’s remarks about nonbinary and transgender people. The Harry Potter game has been boycotted by many because of JK Rowling’s comments on transgender issues. A short 37-second clip of Star slamming they/them pronouns spread on the internet like wildfire as the whole controversy made its way on social media. Meanwhile, a few netizens pulled up a 2017 video in which the YouTuber said: Gender ambiguity can be found in makeup, fashion, sexual identity, gender identity, anything. There were many who quoted the makeup guru and called him out on his current stance.
