NFL veteran Jason Kelce recently expressed regret after a public altercation with a Pennsylvania State University student went viral. The retired Philadelphia Eagles center, who is known for his easygoing nature, found himself in a heated exchange over the weekend while on campus for ESPN’s “College GameDay.” During the incident, a heckler made disparaging comments about Kelce’s brother, Travis Kelce, targeting Travis’s relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. The confrontation quickly escalated, leading Jason to grab the student’s phone and smash it on the ground.
During ESPN’s pre-game show on Monday, Jason addressed the altercation, admitting that his actions in that moment were regrettable. “I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” Jason stated, as he reflected on his reaction to the heckler’s taunts. “In that heated moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have,” the NFL star-turned-commentator admitted. Jason, 36, went on to explain that he tries to live by the Golden Rule, treating others with respect and decency. Reflecting on his actions, he expressed a commitment to return to his core values moving forward. “I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m gonna keep doing that, even though I fell short this week,” he said.
The video of the tense exchange quickly spread across social media, capturing the moment when the heckler could be heard hurling insults at Jason. “Kelce, how does it feel that your brother is a f—-t for dating Taylor Swift?” the student shouted, sparking Jason’s reaction.
