Jamie Foxx has apologised for inciting anti-Semitism after sharing an Instagram photo that seemed to allude to anti-Jewish tropes. “They murdered this guy named Jesus, what do you think they’ll do to you???” Foxx tweeted to his 16.7 million followers. In addition to the post, there are hashtags ‘#fakefriends’ and ‘#fakelove.’ Some social media users believed that the remark looked to mirror the antisemitic idea that Jewish individuals were collectively responsible for the death of Christ, a slander that has historically led to bloodshed and pogroms against Jews.

Foxx deleted the post and apologised to “the Jewish community as well as everyone who was offended by my post,” claiming it was misinterpreted. “I now realise my choice of words caused offence, and I apologise,” he added. That was not my intention. “To explain, I was betrayed by a fake friend, and that’s what I meant by ‘they,'” the Ray actress wrote on Instagram.” It comes after Jenifer Aniston, a Hollywood actress, was chastised for ‘liking’ the tweet. Foxx, who was recently hospitalised for an unknown emergency, has spoken of his deep Christian faith and membership in the Baptist church.

Amid An Antisemitism Controversy, Actor Jamie Foxx Apologizes Over A Deleted Instagram Post

Jamie Foxx recently apologised for a now-deleted Instagram post that many saw as antisemitic. People thought he was preaching hatred towards the Jewish community when he uploaded the post on Friday. On Saturday, Foxx apologised to the Jewish community & all those affected by his statements in an online post. That was not my intention. To clarify, I was betrayed by a phoney friend, and that’s all I meant by “they.” “All I have in my heart is love for everyone,” he wrote. Jennifer Aniston was also drawn into the debate after liking the post. As a result, she posted a statement on her Instagram Story stating that she opposes all forms of antisemitism. Jamie Foxx posted a post about Jesus Christ on Instagram on August 4, 2023. The post said, “They killed this dude called Jesus. What are they going to do to you next?” “#fakefriends #fakelove” The majority of Jewish supporters’ replies to the tweet were unfavourable. Eve Barlow, a Jewish advocate, tweeted that Jamie’s article was a “horrifically antisemitic statement rooted in a classic blood libel & anti-Jewish conspiracy theory.”

Another commenter, Melissa Weiss, stated that Foxx’s tweet demonstrates that Jews cannot exist normally alongside other people. A few users also thought the term “they” alluded to a conspiracy in which Jews are blamed for the Roman Empire’s murder of Christ on grounds of sedition. The Anti-Defamation League has labelled this conspiracy, which explains anti-Jewish violence, as a hoax. Foxx has already apologised for his deleted Instagram post, and his fans have responded. Jamie Foxx’s health troubles were widely debated among his followers following reports of his hospitalisation. In an Instagram video, he spoke about them and thanked everyone for their well wishes, especially his sister Deidra Dixon and his daughter Corinne. When asked about his hospitalisation, Foxx replied that he did not want his followers to see him in poor health. Foxx was hospitalised in April 2023, and his daughter disclosed that he was suffering from a medical problem. He allegedly suffered a brain bleed & went to the hospital after experiencing terrible migraines, according to one of his acquaintances.
