James Michael Tyler age 59, is well known for his role as Gunther. The supervisor of Central Perk in the iconic series Friends has died due to cancer.
Tyler revealed in a June 2021 conversation with the media that he has stage 4 prostate cancer. That has been detected in 2018.
“Everyone else regarded him as Gunther… “However, Michael’s friends and relatives recognized him as an artist, musician, cancer-awareness champion, and caring spouse”. His family stated in a message. “Michael enjoyed live music, rooting for his Clemson Tigers, and finding himself in unexpected and enjoyable excursions”. If you meet him ever, you formed a strong lifelong buddy.”
He appears on Friends: The Reunion in May. But has was unable to actually attend due to safety and health difficulties. Tyler, who appeared via Zoom instead, stated, “It would be the most unforgettable ten years of my experience, genuinely”. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. These individuals were all wonderful and a pleasure to work with. It had a really particular feel to it.” Friends reunion is also an important element of his journey.
Tyler explained that he didn’t share his sickness earlier since “I didn’t want something like, ‘Well, although by the way. Gunther has cancer.'”

Condolences have flooded in on social networking sites. With several referring Gunther as the “seventh friend” because of his frequent appearance on the beloved program.
Kevin Bright, the previous Friends exec producer, wrote on Twitter: “James Michael Tyler Last night, our Gunther died. He was indeed a fantastic man who devoted his remaining days to serving people. God bless you, James, and Gunther will live on forever”. Tyler’s death was described as a “really sad day” by writer and producer Jeffrey Klarik. Someone who co-created and developed the Television show Seasons with Friends actor Matt LeBlanc.
“Warner Bros. Television grieves the passing of James Michael Tyler. A great actor and important member of our FRIENDS family,” a statement by Warner Bros.
Many Friends supporters have paid homage to Tyler on social networking sites. Calling the actor’s death a “sad day” and recalling their favorite on-screen moments with him.
Despite receiving treatment for cancer, James Michael Tyler consistently performed in past few years.
