Jada Pinkett Smith told People magazine that the actress had not talked to Chris Rock since the evening of the 2022 Oscars when Will Smith punched the actor and comedian across his face following he made a joke regarding Jada’s bald head onstage. Because of Jada’s alopecia, Rock’s joke caused controversy. ” I have not talked with Chris…Is there anything I would like to tell him? “Here’s my wish: I simply pray that all of the confusion surrounding this will be sorted up and there can be harmony,” Jada stated to the magazine. While Chris Rock and Jada haven’t communicated since that evening of the 2022 Oscars, Jada actually disclosed for the very first time that Rock exited the stage & approached her right after the slap. ” Chris stepped down from the stage and apologized to me,” said the actress.

“‘I wasn’t attempting to cause you any harm,’ he said. ‘I cannot talk about this right now, Chris,’ I said. This is simply some old nonsense.’ I believed that this was regarding the Oscars in 2016 and… their work from before I got into the picture back in the late ’80s. I will leave that to Will & Chris for them to talk about, however, they’ve got their stuff.” For Jada, the 2016 Oscars proved to be a foreshadowing of the 2022 Oscars slap. Jada loudly criticised the ceremony for the Academy Awards in 2016 during the #OscarsSoWhite controversies, when the awards neglected to include a single person of colour in any of the four acting genres. Rock hosted that year (as well as additionally included a Jada protesting joke in his speech), and Jada stated he was insulted by her remarks about the ceremony.

He received an Oscar for his role in King Richard moments following the slap, and he was nominated for another last year for his work in Emancipation.
