Is Cartoon Network shutting down? The Warner Brother merger explained
3 min readFans of Cartoon Network are causing an uproar on social media amid the news that the children’s channel is shutting down for good.
Here is everything you need to know.
What is happening to Cartoon Network?
Collider confirmed on October 12th, that Cartoon Network Studios is all set to combine with Warner Brothers Animation. They have cited the reason as part of a ‘strategic realignment’ for the company.
It is reported that the two labels will continue to remain distinctive studios. However, they will share the same production and development team.
Subsequently, they are merging with Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, a studio under Warner Bros. Discover which will also continue to be a separate entity.
Regardless, all the tree studios will be headed by the labels President, Sam Register.
Moreover, David DePasquale, Cartoon Network’s Art Director took to his Twitter account to shut down all the sensationalized rumors.
He wrote, ‘Shame on @cartoonbrew for spreading panic. These are decisions that affect real people, studios, & jobs. It seems like you’re concerned with crafting a story with the most sensationalized (inaccurate) version of events. Your lack of journalistic integrity is showing, dude.’
Additionally, he went on to say in a follow-up message, ‘Remember how much animation brings you joy. This industry has always had its ups and downs, but we always manage to make it through it all.’
