Michelle Yeoh wins Best Actress at the Oscars

Cate Blanchett lost her recent Oscar Award nomination for Best Actress to Michelle Yeoh who swept the win for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Moreover, Yeoh acted as Chinese-American laundromat owner Evelyn Quan Wang in Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s absurdist drama. 

Blanchett on the other hand was nominated for her titular performance of Lydia Tar in Todd Field’s psychological drama film Tar.

In addition, Blanchett acts as a Berlin Philharmonic’s recognized conductor who finds herself entangled in a career-ending controversy.

Meanwhile, Yeoh attained immense appreciation for her performance. She also made history by becoming the first Asian to win the Oscar Award for Best Actress. 

Subsequently, fans of Blanchett were left disappointed by the snub.

While this is Yeoh’s first Oscar victory, Blanchett has previously won the Best Actress Oscar award for her role in the 2013 film Blue Jasmine.

She also received the Best Supporting Actress Oscar Award for the 2004 biographical drama The Aviator.

Many users took to Twitter to call out the Academy for snubbing Cate Blanchett from winning the Oscar for Best Actress.

However, some went ahead to defend Yeoh for her win. They even lauded the actress for making history.

One user commented, ‘That is one star-studded group of Best Actress nominees and boy did Michele Yeoh deserve that win!’

Michelle Yeoh is in hot waters for saying Cate Blanchett ‘already has two Oscars’

Michelle Yeoh left the internet divided after she posted and then swiftly deleted, snippets from an article on Instagram ahead of the 95th Academy Awards.

Moreover, she claims in a particular paragraph that Cate Blanchett ‘already has two Oscars.’

The Crazy Rich Asians star outlined the post with a caption that read, ‘This is not just for me. This is for every little girl that looks like me… We want to be seen. We want to be heard.’
