Ice Spice recently shared her thoughts on people’s opinions who believe that her light skin tone played a significant role in her meteoric rise to fame.

Here is everything you need to know.

Ice Spice says she owes her light skin for her instant fame in the music industry

Ice Spice sat down for an interview on Teen Vogue’s June cover story. Moreover, she talked about the multiple criticism she is facing on social media since her debut.

If you didn’t know, many netizens claim that Ice Spice would not have blown up in the music industry so fast if she was not light-skinned.

It appears like Ice Spice knows all about the criticism. Hence, she recently came forward to address the subject.

She said, ‘I have seen those opinions. I feel like that’s not something personal to me. I feel like that’s been the conversation for generations and forever, since the beginning of time.’

Moreover, she shared that she tries not to pay attention to all the critiques that keep popping up online.

She added, ‘I try not to feed into negativity because I also see that when people are trying to make that point, it’s not out of a good place. [They end up putting] somebody else down.’

She mentioned, ‘I’m a human being, so anything hurtful could potentially hurt my feelings. Potentially, if I do read the comments and see something negative, I’ll leave. I’m not torturing myself.’

Besides that, Ice Spice’s comments come a year after Alabama rapper Flo Milli voiced similar sentiments on social media.
