14-year-old Scots teen, Lily Douglas, passes away after fighting her battle with cancer. Her mother confirmed Lily Douglas’ death by saying “she has danced her way to heaven.” The name of her heartbroken mother is Jane. On social media, Jane shared this devastating news on Sunday evening but the world.

What Happened to Lily Douglas?

Lily Douglas was suffering from a disease named Ewing sarcoma since 2017. It is the rarest form of cancer that harms the bones or the tissues around the bones. At the time when she was diagnosed with this disease, Lily Douglas was just 10-years-old. Lily Douglas was shifted to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for the potential breakthrough drug trial on 14th January, Friday.

Before the trial could get started by the doctors, her brain bleeds started. Doctors talked to Jane about her daughter’s health condition and they cannot say whether Lily Douglas will survive or not. They were not sure if she would even last for that night or not. They said, “We did not know what damage would be done.”

On Sunday, Lily Douglas opened her eyes like a brave girl and talked to her mother via chat. She also took her meal and went through her phone for checking messages. But with God’s will, she left her family and loved ones at 7:17 PM on the same day. The death of the teen was confirmed by Jane on social media as she wrote “she danced her way to heaven.”

Statement by Jane

On Facebook, she wrote a statement, “her heart failed but she was on the sofa at home, cuddled into me where she wanted to be. She will leave a massive hole in my heart. If love could have saved her she would have lived to a million years old.”

Jane continued by saying, “She is at peace and is finally in no more pain. Even with cancer, Lily lived her best life and was loved by everyone. I hope I made her proud. I was her mum, we were a great team. Please keep Leon in your prayers, she will need lots of love and support. It is not goodbye, she will be waiting on me. It is only time that will keep us apart.”

She added, “She looks so beautiful and peaceful and even died her beautiful, blonde hair. Thank you all for your love and support. I could not have done this without you all.”

Lily Douglas’ struggle was seen by people as she was fighting with her disease with utmost courage. She was awarded the Pride of Scotland Award last year and was crowned as Teenager of Courage. Dame Arelene Phillips, Strictly Come Dancing icon, created a strong bond with Lily Douglas. He was inspired by seeing Lily’s bravery and then participated in last year’s season of “I am celebrity… Get Me Out of your!”

He said on the show, “one of the bravest, the most fearless girl is a little girl I know called Lily Douglas, she is so fearless. I thought, here I am afraid of so many things. What better way can you push yourself than to do something like this?”

Lewis Capaldi offered Lily “the best day of her life” during his performance at the TRNSMT 2019 as he invited her on the stage. He offered her the chance of a lifetime to hang out side stage. Both of them also did a popular TikTok challenge together.
