John Mueller age 52, is a famed barbecue entrepreneur. And a descendant of one of Texas’ most illustrious barbecue lines died last week at his Frisco home.

Mueller did grow up busing plates for his dad. The late Bobby Mueller, just at familial patriarch Louie Mueller’s bbq joint in Taylor. And further eventually learned how to smoke. As well as slice pork at his dad’s family, as per his sister and La Barbecue director, LeAnn Mueller.

In 2001, the barbecue maestro launched his very first Austin restaurant. John Mueller Barbecue, along Manor Road, after attending Texas Tech Institute. And deciding to make a career out of the industry that has given his family a folk hero in Central Texas.

John Mueller’s legacy was built on stout yet supple brisket grilled hot and fast. Massive beef roasts with such a soft side gave the impression of their intimidating size. And a volatile temperament that burned as fiercely as his off-set smokers.

Later age, Mueller did play up the narrative of “the dark prince of Texas barbecue”. A title granted to him by Texas Magazine, mingling barbs and banter to create an unexpected but amusing appearance at his companies.
Despite his penchant for causing trouble and crossing the line among famous and notorious. Mueller was at base a traditional Central Texas barbecue guy. He learned the trade from his father and afterward blazed his own trail through the industry.

“You’ve done what you have been meant to do. Since you were meant to do it. And you accomplished it quite well”. John Mueller said in the United States in 2012 of the teachings he received through his father.

Mueller departed Austin for the last several years. After shutting his Manor Road diner in 2006, and he emerged in excellent shape in 2011 to launch his J. Mueller BBQ trailer near South First Street, according to his own narrative, after so many gloomy years of traveling. The irascible Mueller was again on top of the competition. As well as the trailer produced several of the greatest barbecues in the nation. Putting the barbecue community on the note. His efforts at the trailer ushered in a new age in Austin barbecue. As smoked meat fans realized they didn’t have to go far from the capitol building to obtain great braised meats.

“I believe he calmed down as he grew older. They took him in and cared for him. “I believe he should indeed be regarded as a barbecue icon”. LeAnn Mueller said, saying that her brother “must be honored the manner he deserves to be known, as a bbq icon.”

Robert, Johnson, as well as Andrew Mueller, John Mueller’s children, outlive him.
