Hasan Piker used the term “cracker” which made him banned from Twitch. Popular streamers faced such a tragedy on Monday. This is not the first time that Hasan Piker‘s name is getting highlighted for any controversy. He has been previously banned more than two times from the same streaming platform.

Hasan Piker’s Controversy Explained

On 13th December 2021, Monday, Hasan Piker was streaming live where 40,000 people joined the live stream. After all that he got suspended from the live streaming platform, Twitch. In that live stream, he used the term “cracker” because of which Twitch banned him from the platform. Later he complained about the issue by posting a tweet on the social media platform, Twitter.

On his Twitter post, he wrote, “Absolutely insane that Twitch banned two of my mods for using the word cracker.” He added to a statement, “One of us is black and the other is brown. Does Twitch actually believe cracker is a slur?”

Because of this tweet that Hasan Piker posted on his Twitter account a virtual debate started on social media. People started arguing on the topic of whether the word tracker is a racial slur or not.

On Internet, you can find many Theories for the word Cracker. If you search the meaning of cracker on Wikipedia then it states that “it refers to the white people who ‘cracked’ whips to punish slaves.”

Guidelines by Twitch

According to the sources, Twitch has not yet revealed the official reason why they have banned Hasan Piker from the live video streaming platform. As per the harassment rules of Twitch, it does not promote “hateful conduct” on its platform.

The official community guidelines of Twitch say, “Harassment becomes hateful conduct when the behavior is targeted at an individual(s) on the basis of a protected characteristic(s).”

It says more, “As Twitch does not tolerate any abuse that is motivated by hatred, prejudice or intolerance, the penalty for such behavior is more severe.”

Hasan Gives An Update

After getting banned from Twitch Hasan Piker clarified that he will be continuing his streaming work on YouTube during his suspension period. The official information is not revealed that how long he will be banned from Twitch.
