After filing a mysterious lawsuit, Daryl Hall secured a temporary restraining order against his long-term Hall & Oates bandmate John Oates. The details of the complaint are being kept under wraps; however, records reveal that it was filed in Nashville’s chancery court on Thursday, November 16th. Hall, 77, also listed Oates’ wife Aimee Oates & Richard Flynn as co-trustees of The John W Oates TISA Trust in his case. After posting a $50,000 restraining bond, Hall was given a temporary restraining order against Oates, 75. In an email Wednesday (22 November), Maria M Salas, the office’s public records request coordinator, notified USA TODAY that a hearing has been planned for the morning of November 30.

Hall & Oates, who started out in Philadelphia in the 1970s, have been playing as a pair as late as last year. Their blend of “blue-eyed soul” has resulted in six No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, notably “Kiss on My List” and “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)”. They also had six platinum albums and numerous Top 10 singles, including “Sara Smile” and “She’s Gone.” Hall stated that Oates was not his “creative partner” during a segment on the Club Random with Bill Maher podcast in September 2022. In addition to solo endeavours, Hall and Oates have made several albums together since their peak and continue to maintain “a brotherly relationship & dedication to touring.”

Court Grants A Restraining Order Against John Oates After Halls & Oates Bandmate Daryl Hall Filed A Lawsuit Last Week

According to internet court records, the legendary music band Hall & Oates is embroiled in a strange legal fight. Daryl Hall recently took legal action against his bandmate John Oates by filing a lawsuit. He was granted a temporary restraining order on November 17. The lawsuit was filed in Nashville Chancery Court by Hall and his trust, The Daryl Hall Revocable Trust. The complaint was sealed, meaning it’s not publicly available. The legal team also requested a $50,000 restraining bond, which was approved. Summons were sent to John Oates and the co-trustees of his trust, Aimee Oates and Richard Flynn. Additionally, a motion was submitted to involve an out-of-state counsel in the case. While the bandmates have previously taken breaks from Hall & Oates, they have most recently appeared as a pair for numerous gigs throughout 2022. In March 2022, Hall professed scepticism about the “Rich Girl” musicians reuniting for a new album anytime soon. “I’m not sure. I have no plans to collaborate with John.

Whatever, I mean. The Los Angeles Times quoted him as saying, “Only time will tell.”. Hall discussed the nature of his relationship with Oates during a segment on the Club Random alongside Bill Maher podcast in September 2022. “Do you believe John Oates is my partner?” … He’s my business associate. “He is not my creative partner,” he said at the time. I and my brother, John, are brothers, but not creative brothers.” “We are business partners,” Hall explained. “We produced records together under the Hall & Oates name, but we’ve always remained very separate, and I find that very significant.” Oates produced and put out a reggae version of Hall & Oates’ 1982 smash “Maneater” earlier this year, inspired by his initial concept for the song, with producer Native Wayne Jobson & a lineup of iconic reggae musicians. In September, Oates told PEOPLE that he wasn’t sure Hall had heard the song’s new version, which had been released in May. “Nope, I didn’t hear anything from him,” he replied. “I’m still not certain if he has or hasn’t heard it.”
