Greta Gerwig and her long-term partner, Noah Baumbach, have married, according to a spokeswoman for the Barbie filmmaker, 40. According to a source, the couple married in New York City Hall. The couple originally met while filming the 2010 film Greenberg, and they began dating in 2011. The announcement follows a busy year for the couple, who co-wrote the Barbie screenplay and confirmed in a July interview with Elle UK that they had secretly welcomed a second boy. “The little guy is sleeping all night.” Yet I keep waking up every hour to 90 minutes and hovering. You can’t stop looking at the baby. So I’m in a twilight state,” the Lady Bird filmmaker explained to the site. The latest addition joins the couple’s first child, son Harold Ralph Gerwig Baumbach, who was born in March 2019. Baumbach, 54, told Vogue in December why he enjoys working with his now-wife. ” I suppose everything I do is motivated by the pleasure of writing for us. I’d show her a cut of my film, and then watch her film a few months later.

I don’t want to seem sickeningly cheerful, but it’s a truly wonderful thing to witness someone you care about creating something you adore. “Except great, I have no other words to say,” he told the website. In 2020, the two were nominated for Academy Awards in the same year. While Baumbach received Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay nominations for Marriage Story, Gerwig received Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for Little Women. Baumbach informed ABC’s Tamron Hall on the red carpet for the 2020 Academy Awards that Gerwig had made him a “much better person & a better writer.” “I’m always trying to make her happy her when we write together.” “I think I write better because I work harder; I want her to be amazed,” he explained. Baumbach revealed in an October Q&A with Gerwig that he was hesitant to work on Barbie but that it ended up being the “best thing we’ve ever written.”
