Mendler’s startup, Northwood Space, is named after a lake in North Hampshire. Yahoo! Finance quoted Mendler’s idea for starting her startup, stating, “While everybody else was making their sourdough starters, we were building antennas out of random crap we could find at Home Depot… and receiving data from satellites.”

The “Good Luck Charlie” actress has founded the startup with two former engineers, one from Lockheed Martin and the other being Shaurya Luthra. Her startup is focused on producing and deploying antennas and ground stations to facilitate data exchange between Earth and space.

Initial launch of Northwood Space by Bridgit Mendler

The X post by Bridgit Mendler also shed light on her initial launch funding for the Northwood Space project. It is set to be worth $6.3 million from investors including the Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, and Also Capital.

According to a report from CNBC’s Michael Sheetz, Mendler’s company is all set to conduct their first test by the end of this year, connecting to the in-orbit spacecraft. More details about it may come out soon from Mendler and her team as their work progresses.
