Deacon Frey, the son of the late singer and Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey, will now depart the band after serving as his father’s replacement since 2017. Frey’s departure was announced on April 6 via the band’s official website and social media channels.

Frey has spent the previous 412 years carrying on his father’s legacy, according to the Eagles’ official statement. Now it is time for him to forge his own path after a few weeks of introspection.

The band also expressed gratitude to the 28-year-old singer. They stepped in as a replacement for his late father to continue the Eagles’ tradition. After his father’s death in 2016, Deacon Frey filled in for Glenn Frey for approximately four and a half years.

What is known about Deacon Frey, Glenn Frey’s son?

Deacon Frey is the son of Glenn Frey and Cindy Millican, and he has two siblings, according to reports. The 28-year-old is best recognized for his father’s legacy and for his role as a guitarist and singer with the Eagles.

Frey has been performing various Eagles songs in the band’s live shows since July 2017. The Classic West event at Dodger Stadium was said to be Deacon Frey’s first concert with the Eagles. Frey, unlike his father, had not been particularly well-known prior to joining the band. However, it appears that Frey’s first taste of stardom came after he joined the Eagles, following in his father’s footsteps.

Deacon Frey’s departure from the Eagles could be due to a variety of factors

After a recent source said that Frey had been ill around last autumn/fall, the news of his leaving comes as a shock. The singer is said to have dropped out of the band’s California tour as a result of this. Additionally, Frey has been absent from the band’s latest tours, which began in February.

Meanwhile, according to a recent statement from the Eagles, Deacon Frey plans to pursue a career in music in addition to continuing his father’s band and legacy. We understand, entirely, and we back him in anything he decides to pursue in the years ahead,” the band said in a statement.

The Eagles and Frey have not provided any additional information as of yet.

While Deacon Frey appears to be pursuing a career in music, his departure from the Eagles appears to be amicable. The Eagles stated that Frey might join them onstage “at any future concerts, if he so wants” in their statement.
