We will no longer be posting about Girl Crush due to their new member, Hayun, being born in 2005
We think it is completely inappropriate for a minor to join a group with this concept. pic.twitter.com/07qDXK0t4F
Hayun was born in 2005 and is a former member of BABA & BLAZE. She is barely 17 yet.
Twitter account user @Nugupromoter expressed outrage in their tweet over including minor Hayun in Girl Crush.
In the message the user mentioned that Hayun had previously performed with Girl Crush when she was just 14 years old in 2019.
Users react to Girl Crush’s newest minor member
Netizens could not help but slam Girl Crush for including a minor in their lineup.
Most of the users commented that while K-pop idols are debuting at an early age, it is inappropriate for a minor to be added to a group that is known for their thoughtful attire and performances.
With the constant backlash from netizens, the group’s agency was forced to clear up the controversy.
UPDATE: Girl Crush have shared that Hayun isn’t officially joining the group yet and is just a “practice member” who will join next year or in 2 years when she becomes an adult

However, we are still concerned about the other things she has done as a minor outside of Girl Crush https://t.co/Wa4klPA42u pic.twitter.com/Y1VhRnvK1t
HW Entertainment issued a statement
Girl Crush’s agency, HW Entertainment released quite a vague statement to address the speculations. They confirmed that Hayun is not a part of the lineup yet.
The company further denied Hayun being an official member of the group, describing her as a ‘practice girl’.
They further emphasized that they will wait for Hayun to be of legal age before she joins the dancing girl group.
They’re not “training” Hayun to join Girl Crush, they’re grooming her. There’s no reason a child should be training along adult performers with everyone intending for her to join them as soon as she reaches the legal age to do so, it’s extremely exploitative and fucked up

The statement however received an opposite reaction from the netizens. Instead of calming down, the users’ worries were deepened by the announcement.
The users showed their stance on the statement by accusing HW Entertainment of grooming a minor and waiting for her to reach ‘legal age’.
Shortly after sharing the statement, the group’s Instagram and Twitter official accounts went private, blocking any further communication.
