In a surprising revelation, Geoguessr expert Rainbolt disclosed that he’s the mastermind behind a secret ASMR channel, which has garnered millions of streams thanks to a collaboration with Pandora radio. Known for his impressive skills in the world of Geoguessr, Rainbolt has long been considered one of the best in identifying locations across the globe. However, his recent confession shows that his talents extend far beyond the game.
Rainbolt’s fame initially skyrocketed back in June 2023 when he went viral on TikTok for pinpointing a local bagel shop, which a man was trying to gatekeep. Not only did Rainbolt identify the restaurant and the sandwich in question, but he also got the bagel shop to name the sandwich after him. This viral moment only added to his growing popularity, helping him amass a substantial following on social media, TikTok, and two YouTube channels.
On September 27, 2024, during an appearance on The Yard podcast, Rainbolt revealed a lesser-known side of his career. While discussing how he generates income through YouTube and TikTok, he surprised fans by admitting that he runs a successful ASMR channel. “I have this thing called Thailand Sounds, like an ASMR [channel]. No one even knows this is me really,” Rainbolt shared. The channel primarily features Thai rain sounds, and thanks to a deal with Pandora, it has become incredibly popular, amassing millions of streams.
Rainbolt further elaborated, saying, “We have a guy who just records Thai rain. We’re doing like a million streams on Pandora. We’re like the biggest rain radio there.” The ASMR channel’s success adds a fasc inating layer to Rainbolt’s already impressive online presence.
Beyond his secret ASMR endeavors, Rainbolt’s main YouTube channels boast nearly 3 million subscribers combined, with close to 900 million views accumulated over the years. His latest video, uploaded on September 26, 2024, showcases his incredible speed and accuracy in identifying locations worldwide, including places in Canada and Serbia. The video racked up over 45,000 views in just 17 hours, further cementing his reputation as a Geoguessr prodigy.
Interestingly, Rainbolt is not the first influencer to unveil a side project this year. YouTube star Valkyrae recently launched her own media company aimed at producing anime, comic books, and TV shows. Similarly, Logan Paul and KSI joined forces with MrBeast earlier in the month to introduce Lunchly, a new competitor to Lunchables that features their respective brands, Prime and Feastables.
