Fort Lauderdale Police Chief ‘Larry Scirotto’ Fired Over Discrimination Issues

The police chief of Fort Lauderdale Larry Scirotto has been fired off from his post following the allegations on him of discriminatory practices for promotion. While the former police chief Larry had served for his recent designation for just six months, the allegations on him have put things to an end.

Who is Larry Scirotto?

Larry Scirotto is a 48 years old Florida police chief of Fort Lauderdale who has now been fired from the designation. He is known to be from a mixed-race though. He was the first gay chief in Fort Lauderdale who happened to have served as an assistant chief at Pittsburgh too.

It’s his recent allegations on him that have made him come into the limelight. It was reportedly only within six months as Police chief of Fort Lauderdale that he was fired from his duty following allegations on him that are on the discriminatory ground.

Larry Scirotto Accused Of Following Discriminatory Practices While Promoting Staffs

As per the reports stated in Daily Mail, Larry Scirotto, the former Police chief of Fort Lauderdale was fired from his following an investigation. Larry was accused of practicing discrimination while promoting the staff.

After an investigation, it came out that Larry gave promotion to the police staff to the minorities mostly. He is accused of being discriminating while promoting and preferring the black ones for promotion. He was also accused of asking while promoting “Which one is blacker?”.

He was even accused of expressing a desire to change the setup of the organization after seeing the conference room with pics of more white people on the police job.

Larry Scirotto’s Reactions To The Allegations Made On Him

Scirotto has denied the allegations made on him and has stated that he gave promotion to the staff only on merit who are minorities. While two other staff of the organization claimed to have not been promoted because of race, gender, and others, Scirotto’s firing came months later.

Moreover, the allegations on Scirotto didn’t just stop here, rather he has been accused of more. He is reportedly being accused of working as a high school referee for basketball while being the chief. Nonetheless, Scirotto has been now fired off from his job at Fort Lauderdale.
