DC Comics universe which competed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Man of Steel was released in 2012, may be coming to an end based on several recent Hollywood reports. James Gunn and Peter Safran, new CEOs of DC Studios, are looking at concluding Zack Snyder’s cinematic universe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The upcoming Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman 3 and Henry Cavill-starring Man of Steel 2 will not proceed because of this. During his cameo in Black Adam, Cavill announced that he would be returning to the DCEU as Superman and that exciting projects were in the works. During their meeting with Warner Bros. executive David Zaslav next week, James Gunn and Peter Safran are expected to provide fans with more clarity about all their projects.

Henry Cavill Confirms The News That He Will Not Be Returning As Superman
In the days leading up to Henry’s return as Superman, there was quite a bit of hype and buzz. Several months ago, he had announced the same thing. In spite of the fans’ eagerness, it seems the Co-CEOs aren’t in favour of the actor donning the cape again. The actor announced via social media that he will no longer play Superman. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed their upcoming DCEU slate includes a young Superman film, which will show the character in his early years. According to Henry’s Instagram post, I just met with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and the news is sad. In the end, I won’t be returning as Superman. As I was told to announce my return by the studio back in October, before their hiring, this news isn’t easy.
Change of guards is something that occurs. That is something I respect. A universe has to be built by James and Peter. Throughout the new universe, I wish them the best of luck and the happiest of fortunes. We can mourn for a moment for those who have been by my side through the years, but then we must remember…Superman lives on. It has been a pleasure riding with you all, onward and upward,” he said. Earlier this year, Henry Cavill announced that he would return to his role as the cape-wearing, flying superhero.
