After it was revealed that Kid Cudi will be taking over for Kanye West at Rolling Loud, irate fans demanded a refund.

After the 45-year-old rapper abruptly withdrew, the music festival’s official Twitter account announced the change on Sunday, July 17.

Ye will no longer be appearing at Rolling Loud Miami 2022 due to events beyond their control, they announced. Thanks for having me, @KiDCuDi!

People reacted to the news fast, many of whom begged for their money back. One concertgoer yelled, “I demand a f***ing refund!”

Adding a second, “Booooooo give me my money back,” a fourth said, adding, “Bro, I’ve already spent over $2,000 on my trip. When I was 18 years old, I worked my tail off to see my all-time favourite artist, only for him to cancel a few days beforehand. I find it difficult to express my current feelings. Everything I sell has Kanye’s name on it.”

Despite this, the lineup change was accepted by at least one person. Another commenter welcomed Cudi by saying, “With open ARMS.”

“Largest Hip-Hop Festival in the World”

According to Rolling Loud’s website, the music event is the “biggest hip-hop festival in the world.” The “Praise God” rapper, now known as Ye, was scheduled to perform on stage with 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Saweetie, and others just five days before he backed out.

Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler, co-founders of Rolling Loud, issued a statement following the unexpected restructuring. “We were excited for Ye to perform at Rolling Loud Miami in 2022. He and his staff and I worked on the performance for months. Unfortunately, Ye has made the decision to stop touring.”

The note went on to say: “Although we don’t take it lightly because this is the first headliner to ever cancel on us, we wish him the best. We are excited to have Kid Cudi perform as the main attraction in Miami and we can’t wait to hear what he has in store.”

The native of Atlanta, Georgia, was expected to cancel, according to some. In June 2022, one supporter who had previously stated: “He ain’t coming,” tweeted: “I told y’all. Added a second: “What is happening? Ye abandons every festival, curse it.”

With fewer than two weeks to go, the father of four—who has four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian—withdrew as Coachella’s headlining act in April.
