According to reports, Warner Bros. Pictures is planning to remove Amber Heard’s scenes from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as a result of the verdict in the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation case. According to the rumors, a meeting of higher-ups was recently conducted to decide whether or not Heard should be removed off the Aquaman sequel.

Amber Heard shot the majority of her scenes in London in the fall of 2021, and her absence could be due to an off-screen death. According to rumors, Mera’s character could die during childbirth at the start of the sequel, effectively removing her from the story. The move is intended to help deflect unfavorable attention away from the DC Extended Universe sequel, which is planned to debut next year.

In Aquaman 2, Amber Heard plays Mera in a minor role

During the trial, it was also revealed that Amber Heard only has a minor role as Mera in Aquaman 2, only appearing at the beginning and end of the film, so if Heard is only in the film for about ten minutes or so, it wouldn’t be too difficult to cut all the Mera scenes, as it sounds like Heard only has a minor role that means nothing for the sequel.

It was also revealed that earlier draughts of the script had a much larger role for Mera, who was supposed to have a romantic arc with star Jason Momoa and appear in a big battle scene at the end of the film, but the head of DC films, Walter Hamada, testified that after the first Aquaman film, due to Amber Heard’s bad chemistry with Momoa, Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 was reduced. Heard initially claimed that it was because of Johnny Depp that her role in Aquaman 2 was reduced and that she was freed from her Aquaman contract, but Hamada refuted this, claiming that Heard had no chemistry with Momoa and that she was never released from her contract.

Amber Heard’s inclusion in Aquaman 2 is a possibility

Amber Heard’s removal from Aquaman 2 is a distinct possibility, given her loss at trial and the fact that over 4.5 million people have voted to have her removed from the film. I believe Heard’s ten minutes would have featured in Aquaman 2 if the trial conclusion had been more favorable to her, but she lost a lot of time at trial, therefore she’s likely to be cut from the sequel. Look for leaks to validate the information if WB organizes more test screenings.
