Emma Stone Prefers to be Called by Her Real Name, Emily

Emma Stone, the acclaimed actress known for her roles in films like “La La Land” and “Easy A,” recently revealed that she prefers to be addressed by her real name, Emily. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Stone expressed her desire to go by her birth name rather than her stage name.

The 35-year-old star explained that she initially adopted the name Emma Stone because another actress in the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) already had the name Emily Stone. However, she admitted to experiencing a change of heart a few years ago and expressed her wish to be called Emily instead.

Despite her preference for her given name, Emma Stone shared that some people she knows and works with already call her Emily. She also mentioned that her co-star Nathan Fielder refers to her as Em, which she finds easier.

However, Stone clarified that if a fan were to approach her and address her as Emma, she wouldn’t correct them. This flexibility in her preference garnered praise from several fans, who commended her for returning to her real name.

Before her acting career took off, Emma Stone had a fascination with Spice Girls’ Emma Lee Bunton, also known as Baby Spice. She revealed during an episode of “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon in 2018 that she wanted to be called Emma because of her admiration for Baby Spice. Reflecting on her childhood, Stone admitted that she even asked her second-grade teacher to call her Emma.

Stone’s decision to embrace her real name resonated with many fans, who appreciated her authenticity and willingness to share this aspect of her identity.
