Eminem, who is himself a 15-time Grammy winner, singled out Not Like Us as a standout track, calling it a testament to Lamar’s lyrical brilliance and influence. “Kendrick is at the very, very top tier of lyricists. Not just of this generation, but of all time,” he stated, adding that Lamar’s work is both innovative and timeless.
A Shared Legacy in Rap
This is not the first time Eminem has lauded Lamar’s artistry. In 2016, he described Lamar’s debut album as groundbreaking, hailing its intricate storytelling and lyrical complexity as “genius.” The two rap icons have also shared the stage, performing together at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and others. Their professional relationship dates back to their 2013 collaboration on Love Game from Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2
Eminem’s Grammy Nomination
While Eminem has been nominated this year for Best Rap Album for The Death of Slim Shady, he remains unequivocal in his belief that Lamar will be the night’s biggest winner.
This year, Beyoncé leads the nominations with 11, setting a new record for most career Grammy nods at 99. She now surpasses her husband Jay-Z, with whom she was previously tied at 88 nominations.
With Kendrick Lamar positioned as a frontrunner for multiple awards, and Eminem’s glowing endorsement, the 2025 Grammys are shaping up to be a landmark event. Whether Lamar will indeed “sweep that s**t” as Eminem predicts remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—his influence and artistry are undeniable.
