"I’m appalled that I would say something so insensitive, hurtful, and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell on a talk show. Whatever possessed me to say anything like this in… pic.twitter.com/Z0U0nHK0Ms
“I’ve always regarded myself as an individual who would never dream of hurting anyone, therefore what drove me to say anything such as this at that moment is unrecognisable to me regardless of what I stand for,” she continued. And yet that happened, and I stated it, and I apologise for any harm caused. I was more than mature enough to know better.” Blunt can be observed in the video chatting with host Jonathan Ross recalling an occasion when she consumed dinner at a Chili’s restaurant while shooting the Rian Johnson-directed thriller. “Visit Chili’s and you’ll see why the number of our American friends is enormous,” Ross says. Blunt went on, “Well, the girl who was assisting me was enormous.” During her visit to the restaurant, she said the server recognized her. In Looper, which was released in 2012, the Edge of Tomorrow actress starred alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Paul Dano.

Emily Blunt Has Responded To Old Video That Showed Her Using “Insensitive” And “Hurtful” Language During A 2012 Talk Show Appearance
A resurfaced 2012 talk show appearance of Emily Blunt using insensitive language has led her to apologize. In September 2012, Blunt, 40, appeared on the U.K.’s Jonathan Ross Show, during which she refers to a restaurant server as “enormous” while recalling her time in the United States making Looper. “I just have to address this head-on as I couldn’t help but fall to my knees watching this clip from 12 years ago,” Blunt says in a statement. My heart breaks for what I said on a talk show; it was so hurtful, insensitive, and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell.” “I’ve always regarded myself as someone who has no intention of offending anyone so whatever prompted me to say anything like this at that moment is unrecognisable to me irrespective of what I stand for,” she said. “However, it occurred and I said it, and I’m deeply sorry for any harm caused.”
I was more than mature enough to comprehend better.” During shooting, Blunt recounts attending supper at a local Chili’s restaurant, to which talk show host Jonathan Ross responds, “If you go to Chili’s, you are able to see the reason why the amounts of our American friends are enormous.” “Well, the girl who was assisting me was enormous,” Blunt responds, before revealing that the waiter in question remembered her from her previous visit to the establishment. Looper stars Blunt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Paul Dano, and was writer-director Rian Johnson’s third feature-length picture. English comedian John Bishop, late actor Michael Gambon, as well as music producer David Guetta featured among the guests on that September 22, 2012 programme, along with Jack Antonoff.
i love that she had no ego to admit it was indeed a very insensitive thing to say and completely unrelated too. this speaks volumes when it comes to one’s growth. so many would brush this off and say those who got offended are “soft”. really cool and mature of her.

She made it seem like this was out of character for her when really a lot of us are fatphobic and we have to be real about that in order to change it.
